StoryMap of Hackney

During the festival we invite you to share an anecdote and together create the StoryMap of Hackney. This will bring together plays, performances and your stories about the area to become the future archive of the Shakespeare in Shoreditch Festival. The StoryMap of Hackney is created in partnership with The Creative Exchange.

Curtain Road

London's first purpose build theatres, The Theatre and The Curtain were situated on what is now Curtain Road. From 1597 to 1599 The Curtain was the premiere site for The Lord Chamberlain's Men, the company that first performed Shakespeare's plays. The Curtain was the venue for many of Shakespeare's plays including Romeo and Juliet and Henry V. / @BL_NKHackney
